Snowman Shuffle 10K & 5K

Has there ever been snow on the ground during the snowman shuffle? The answer is yes. The very first year of the event, about 1977, it snowed for several days before the Snowman Shuffle and several days after, but not on race day. Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh. The day was beautiful with sunshine, low humidity, no wind and temperature in 30's. There was deep snow every where except on the road. Over 300 runners showed up to run the snowman shuffle 10K. (There was no 5K then). They wore everything from double warmups to shorts to no shirt. Oh what fun did every body have.

Course

Both the 10k and the 5k start together @ 9am at Winfrey Point, White Rock Lake. Both races go north on East Lawther (east shore of the lake) and turn around at their halfway points then return to Winfrey Point.

Parking

Parking is limited. Please carpool, run or ride your bike if possible.

Parking will be inside the park along Emerald Isle, the Gravel baseball field lot, and the driveway and small parking lots around Winfrey Point. You are allowed to park nose in along the roadway, just do not park in the fields. Parking is also available on East Lawther from the Sunset Inn area to the Stone Tables; if you've pre-registered this is just 1/4~1/2 mile jog to the start line.

Over-flow parking is across Garland Rd. behind Lakeside Church, just off Old Gate. Richardson Bike Mart is on the corner of Old Gate and Garland Rd. The church's lot is 200' past RBM and across the street, immediately off Old Gate. If that lot becomes full, we can use the back spaces of their main lot, on the north side of the Church. Please do not park in front of the church off Garland Rd. or by the main entrances; they will be having a small service during our event.

Under no circumstances park in front of the business off Garland Rd. They're counting on weekend business and we can support them by keeping their parking spaces available.

Race-Day Registration

Race day registration starts 1 hour before and closes 15 minutes prior to, the race start.

Pre-registered entrants will not be guaranteed t-shirts after that time. Race day registrants will receive shirts as long as they last.

** First day starts one hour after store opening.
** Last day ends one hour before store closing.

Awards

All award winners will receive a commemorative 2013 Snowman Shuffle picture snowglobe. After the race you can insert a picture inside with your Snowman Shuffle best!

1st Overall Male & Female (also receive plaque)
1st Masters Male & Female (also receive plaque)

Top 3 in age groups:
12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24
65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over

Top 5 in age groups:
25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64

Top 3 Female Athena (over 150 lbs)
Top 5 Male Clydesdale (over 200-214 lbs)
Top 3 Male Rhino (215-239 lbs)
Top 3 Male Hippo (240+)

Clydesdale, Rhino, & Hippo are not eligible for age group awards.

First person across the line wins; awards are based on Gun Time.

You must be at the awards ceremony to receive your award. Awards will not be presented after race day.

Event Shirt

Entrants who register or pick up their packets before race day are guaranteed a limited edition long-sleeve event Tech-shirt.

Race day registrants will receive shirts as long as they are available.

Pre registered entrants are guaranteed shirts only until 15 minutes before race start. Shirts will not be mailed or saved if you do not pick up your packet.

Timing

This event is timed using the disposable D-Tag timing chip system. You'll find its easy to use, light weight and accurate. However, please be sure to follow these instructions or you will not be timed by the system. If you notice your name does not appear in the results, don't fret. Just let us know and we probably can find you on the manual (old-school) timer.

Refreshments

Refreshments served to participants after the event. Gatorade, Ice Water, Sodas, Beer & variety of fresh fruits.

Water Stations

All water stations have Gatorade and ice water. They are located approximately every 1.5~2 miles.

Weight Groups

Female Athena (over 150 lbs)
Male Clydesdale (200-214 lbs)
Male Rhino (215-239 lbs)
Male Hippo (over 240 lbs)

Weight group divisions are optional and not eligible for age group awards.
